Planning for the unexpected is a critical step in protecting your family, your finances, and your health. Whether you need a professional to witness a pre-drafted document or you require a custom document created from scratch, our licensed Ontario Notary Publics are here to help. We provide fast, reliable, and legally compliant Power of Attorney (POA) notarization and drafting services right here in Brampton.
A Power of Attorney is a legally binding document that grants a trusted individual (known as your “attorney,” though they do not have to be a lawyer) the authority to make critical decisions on your behalf if you become incapacitated, travel overseas, or are simply unavailable.
In Ontario, there are two primary types of Powers of Attorney governed by the Ministry of the Attorney General:
We offer two distinct services depending on your needs:
If you have already prepared your own Power of Attorney (using a lawyer, an online kit, or the free Ontario government forms), we can act as the official witnesses to your signature.
If you do not have a document prepared, our legal professionals can consult with you and draft a customized, legally sound Power of Attorney tailored to your specific wishes and circumstances.
To ensure your POA is executed correctly under Ontario law, please review the following requirements before your visit:
If you are bringing your own POA, it must be completely filled out but left unsigned. You must sign it in the physical presence of the witnesses.
You must present an unexpired, government-issued photo ID (such as a Driver’s License, Passport, or Ontario Photo Card) to verify your identity.
Ontario law requires a Power of Attorney to be signed in front of two eligible witnesses. Our Notary Public can act as your first witness. You can bring a friend or colleague to act as your second witness, or our office can provide a second witness for a small additional fee. (Note: Your appointed "attorney," their spouse, and your own spouse/children cannot act as witnesses).
We provide straightforward, predictable fees for both drafting and witnessing services. Review our full notary fee schedule for more details.
| Service Details | Fee |
|---|---|
| Notarizing & Witnessing (Pre-drafted POA) | $35 + HST |
| Provision of a Second Witness (If you don't bring one) | $15 + HST |
| Custom POA Drafting (Includes drafting & all witnessing) | $120 + HST |
We welcome walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. However, because POA executions require multiple witnesses, we highly recommend booking an appointment online to ensure our staff is readily available to assist you without delay.
