Skip the trip. Whether it’s a snowstorm, an injury, a mobility issue or simply a packed schedule, you can have your affidavits, statutory declarations and consent letters commissioned by live video from the peace and comfort of your home. Our licensed Ontario Commissioners of Oaths handle everything online, so there’s no driving, no parking and no waiting room.
Virtual commissioning lets you swear or affirm your document over a live video call instead of visiting our office. Ontario allows a Commissioner of Oaths to administer an oath or declaration by video conference (O. Reg. 431/20 under the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act).
You see and hear our commissioner, we confirm your identity, you take your oath and sign on camera, and we email you the commissioned document as a PDF. It’s the same service our Brampton clients get at the counter, delivered to your living room. If your document is going to an office outside Ontario, we recommend confirming with them that they accept virtually commissioned documents.
If your document needs to be sworn, affirmed or declared, there’s a good chance we can do it by video. Our most common online requests include:
General affidavits, Affidavits of Service and sworn statements for Small Claims and family court.
Declarations for employers, banks, insurers, licensing bodies and government agencies.
Single-parent, separation, sole-support and income declarations for student financial aid.
Statutory Declarations of Common-Law Union for IRCC immigration and sponsorship applications.
Consent letters for children travelling with one parent, relatives or a school group.
Invitation letters for family and friends applying to visit Canada.
Sworn statements to replace passports, PR cards, driver's licences and other ID.
Name change declarations and the Ontario Sworn Statement for a Family Gift of a Used Motor Vehicle.
Getting your document commissioned online takes just a few minutes of your time:
Complete your document but do not sign it. Email it to notary@canadanotary.ca with your name, phone number and what the document is for.
Complete our secure online ID verification with your government-issued photo ID. It takes about two minutes on your phone. Tap here to start.
Our team reviews your document and sends you payment instructions. Then you take your oath and sign over a short video call, and we email you your commissioned document as a PDF.
Some days, getting to an office just isn’t realistic. Our online service is built for exactly those days. Fees are flat-rate and confirmed by our team before you pay.

Yes. Ontario permits a Commissioner of Oaths to administer an oath or declaration by video conference under O. Reg. 431/20. You take your oath and sign while our commissioner watches live on video.
A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, your valid government-issued photo ID, and your completed but unsigned document. Please sign only when our commissioner asks you to during the call.
Once your oath is taken and your document is commissioned, we email it to you as a PDF. You can then print it or submit it electronically.
Email your unsigned document to notary@canadanotary.ca and complete our online ID verification. Our team will review everything and send you payment instructions and next steps.
Services that require us to inspect an original document, such as certified true copies, need to be done in person at one of our Brampton offices. If you're not sure, email us your document and we'll let you know.
Please contact us. We'll let you know whether your document can be completed virtually and what is needed.
Don’t let weather, an injury or a busy day hold up your application. Email your unsigned document to notary@canadanotary.ca, verify your ID online, and our Brampton team will take it from there.
